TEKO

One of those rare occasions when I fly back home for a weekend to see go to a university open day in Herning!

I thought it might be a good idea to write a few woods about the Danish universities that I have visited?

I wouldn't exactly call these reviews like the English ones, merely thoughts.

TEKO is located in Herning in the part of Denmark called Jutland. My parents house is on Sealand.

It was all rather confusing at first, because I ended up at the wrong place to begin with. Have you noticed that I do that a lot?
When I finally sorted myself out we ended up in the right place with the BA students.
They have great facilities there, but Herning or more rightly TEKO is placed in the middle of nowhere. Although surrounded by lots of Danish culture centers. A rather big contrast to London or Manchester.

TEKO gave me a good impression by the end of it, although I'm skeptical about the course being in two parts, part one equals two years equals no BA, part two equals an additional one and half year equals "top-up" BA - if that makes sense.

Oh and they also have really good opportunities to live in the student village, which is really close! What is great about the student housing is that they are great mini houses! Its amazing what you can get for your money compared to the UK! So if you want somewhere nice to live go to Herning!

V&A

Went to the V&A on Friday with my family straight from college, which was good. There's nothing like hanging out at a amazing museum on a Friday night, were all the Londoners go to hang and have a drink with their friends, the lounge/trendy music in the background as you're moving around the museum. The main reason for going was to get some more inspiration for my FMP, I was searching for colours...

Excuse My Absence!

I'm a great blogger!

Early Wednesday morning I was finding myself feeling sick... and ended up being sick most of Wednesday. So from Wednesday to Thursday I was sick, weak and feeling sorry for myself. Friday I got back on my feet and went to college, got picked up from college and then the Deans and I went to the Victoria and Albert museum for a couple of hours and grabbed a sandwich/toastie at Pret A Manager. It was a good Friday and a tiring one.

I realize that it has been ages since I have updated you on any of my projects as for Joy Division and my FMP, so that will be coming up ASAP.

What's written in the centre was referred to me. On the 3rd February I started making mini portfolios for the universities that had requested one!

Going back in time on the 1st February my wall area looked like this. Most people have mood boards hanging as inspiration for their FMP, but as I am on a 'save the planet'-mission I'm refusing to print out different images for each week! The bizarre grey cotton and calio thing, is a half a dress...

Good weekend out there!

London!

On Friday we (as in the fashion students) went to London, to explore some fabric shops, see what was out there, but it was more or less unsuccessful regarding my FMP, as I'm going for sustainable fabrics, although far away from polyester! But it was a nice way to spend my first day back from Denmark, just hanging out with the crazy kids from Aylesbury College. Later on we checked out Liberty, first time there, I know! Outrageous! Definitely worth a visit, need to go there more often! Argh, there's nothing like being in designer heaven and feeling the materials, looking at the construction and stitching - I live such an exciting life!

When we had finished in Liberty we were free to go, my original plan was to go to the V&A and check out their Asian/Japan gallery, but instead I ended up going to Selfridges with my tutor (you can call me teachers pet if you want to!).
Have English people EVER heard of air condition, I'm surprised that I didn't dehydrate in there! Again heaven had come to earth, I couldn't believe it when I saw the above Comme Des Garcons dress! It wasn't even in a class box, like some of the really expensive dresses were. I was like a 4 year old really wanting a certain doll, I looked a my tutor and said: its a shame I can't take it to the changing room and try it on, I don't look like your average rich kid! I won't go into anymore technical detailing of how is was made.. But gosh!
Even after finishing circling around Selfridges, my tutor asked if there was anything else I wanted to see, I replied and say can we go back to Comme?

During my stay at home I took the opportunity to go to two exhibitions, one of them was Northern Women in Chanel at Design Museum Denmark. I'm sure you've heard all about it already - especially if you're interested in fashion. The exhibition was stunning and the pictures taken by Peter Farago and Ingela Klemetz-Farago were mesmerizing. While there my Mum and I took the change to look around at the rest of the museum. They have some great stuff exhibited there, take a look if you're ever around Copenhagen.

Living in the bobble of being home, for some reason my approach on everyday life changes when I'm back in Denmark, but I'm sure that I've told you that before. Just wanted to check in and say may the blogging begin again!
